I had a very productive writing plan for this week. Iced tea? Check. Laptop? Check. Beautiful lake view? Check. Dog supervision? ...allegedly.
So I was sitting outside trying to write…
...when Hank, The Biggest Lab Who Ever Lived, decided he was the world's greatest swimmer and launched himself in with complete confidence.
About two seconds in, he also decided he was not, in fact, the world's greatest swimmer.
So there I was—fully clothed, shoes and all—wading into the lake while explaining to my dog that this was a terrible plan and that maybe next time we could think things through before committing to aquatic adventures.
Hank, naturally, learned absolutely nothing.
Which brings me to today's book recommendation, because honestly? My main characters aren't always much better at thinking things through before jumping into emotionally dangerous situations.
And Tucker Colburn might be the king of that particular skill set.
